Let's hear it from the PMU Artists

Established in 1990 in a small workshop, Brett Stewart Tattoo Supplies began as a passion fueled by a deep love for the art of tattooing and craftsmanship. Brett, a skilled toolmaker by trade, combined his technical expertise with a commitment to quality and innovation.
In the early days, Brett would ride from tattoo shop to tattoo shop on his Harley trike or trusty multi-coloured Corolla, personally showcasing his products to artists across the region and the whole of Australia. This hands-on approach allowed him to build lasting relationships with his customers.
Seven years ago, we started bringing in permanent make up products. It felt like a natural step for us having worked so closely with tattoo inks for so long, moving into PMU inks just made sense. We saw the overlap in the need for quality products, and wanted to support PMU artists the same way we’ve always supported tattoo artists.
Today, Brett Stewart Tattoo Supplies is a full-scale company, recognised for its dedication to supporting the tattooing community. From those humble beginnings in a small workshop, we’ve grown into a brand synonymous with reliability, craftsmanship, and a true passion for the art of tattooing.
FAQ
What are the differences between Pigment brands?
When tattooing something as visible as lips, brows, or colour specific like scar coverage or areolas you want to know you have the best around. Following is what makes each brand unique and worthwhile.
Perma Blend
Long lasting and fades to a lighter version of the same colour due to the high-density load, with a rich tone. Equally suitable to microblading and machine work, the more liquid form where when microblading, less ink is better meaning a single bottle will last a long time. With an amazing range of shades whatever colour you’re after, it can be found in Permablend.
Evenflo
If a more natural look is being sought, Evenflo is an excellent range. With a focus on sheer, natural looks these inks heal well and have high retention so less touch ups are needed. As they have less titanium dioxide it gives a more translucent finish, giving a soft enhancement rather than a saturated look.
Permablend Luxe
The Luxe range is the REACH compliant wing of Perma Blend, being safer and less likely to cause reactions while still retaining the great range of long lasting colours you’ve come to know and love. While not being exactly 1 to 1 due to each pigment being a fresh new look at colouration, it is still the same company you know and trust.
Tina Davies
Tina Davies has been a PMU artist for 20+ years, and has a deep knowledge of what pigments work and don’t work. She’s put all of that into developing her range of inks with education programs and knowledge on best use from brows and lips, making her pigments ideal for people starting out or who want to branch into new sides of the PMU world.
World Famous
Coming from traditional tattooing roots, World Famous has many pigments that are ideal for permanent makeup, scar covering and areola work. With options such as Samantha Rae’s Pink Ribbon set which is perfect for nipple coloration and skin matching and a vast range of reds and pinks for lips as well as other skin tones. This makes them ideal for a more permanent option than other brands, with a long-standing history of quality pigments.
What cartridge can I use for Permanent Make Up?
PMU cartridges are specifically designed with finer needle configurations to suit delicate facial skin. Look for cartridges with a tight needle grouping such as 1RL (round liner), 3RL, or 5RL for brows and eyeliner work, and curved/flat magnums for shading and lip blush.
Needle diameter - 0.30mm or 0.35mm is standard for PMU
Taper length - long taper for precise hairstrokes, medium for shading.
Some of the cartridge brands that are designed for permanent make up are the following:
- Peach Cartridges
- Vertix Academy
- EZ Inkin Revo PMU
- V-Select PMU
- Bishop Da Vinci PMU
- Emalla Miuxia
- Elite Bellecode PMU

What PMU machine is best for permanent makeup?
The best PMU machine depends on your technique and experience level, but rotary pen-style machines are the industry standard for permanent makeup.

- Lightweight and ergonomic design for precision control during long sessions.
- Adjustable needle depth and speed (voltage range of 5–9V is ideal for most PMU work).
